Dear parents,
Happy Friday!!! The students and I started the week enjoying our fieldtrip to see Seussical. The first and second graders did a wonderful job.
Our question in language arts was, in what ways are things alike? How are they different? The story genres were fiction and informational text. Ask your child to tell you about the story called All Kinds of Families. It was very cute. The vocabulary words were: similar, sort, perfect, endless, experiment and participate. The letter was long Ee plus a review of all our long vowels. Our words were: does, good, his and our. The students didn’t do reading stations this week due to working on the last i-ready diagnostic in the computer lab. They are all finished with the reading portion and have almost completed the math part.
The students are finishing up chapter 12 in math. They will be taking their end of year benchmark towards the end of next week. We will do a big review in the beginning of next week. We will then finish the year having fun math stations and going over a few first grade lessons.
We are working on Mother’s day surprises and graduation during science and social studies. We have been able to sneak in some plant activities and insect activities too. We let our butterflies go in the reading garden. A few of them even landed on the students before they flew off. It was so awesome to see. I wish I had my camera with me.
The students are working on finishing up lowercase letters and will complete the book by writing numbers. They will be able to bring their book home soon.
A big “thank you” to everyone who came out yesterday to support the Art/reading fair. It was so much fun.
DON’T FORGET OUR ANNUAL MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST IS NEXT FRIDAY MAY 11TH FROM 7:45-8:45. COME HAVE SOME GREAT TREATS AND A SPECIAL SURPRISE.
Please make sure to RSVP for the Kindergarten graduation. Remember space is limited. It is being held in the Middle school rooms so we can use the projector. Dessert and drinks will be on the playground after the ceremony.
The students have their last fieldtrip to FST on Wednesday May 9th from 9:30-11:30. Our chaperones are Zayden’s dad, Isla’s mom and Tayton’s mom. We are all set and out of room for any more. Please make sure your child wears their SAA shirt. Thanks
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!
